DANE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Senator Ron Johnson again defends his vote in favor of the 2017 tax cuts, which benefited his own plastics company.

While meeting with first responders in Dane County Monday, April 18, Johnson said he stood up for small businesses and was not acting to promote his own interests with tax cuts.

"My efforts were for the many, not the few," Sen. Johnson said. "Now when you start talking about taxation, if you cut taxes for everybody, everybody gets a tax break and people that make more money get more dollars cut, but that's our tax system."

Johnson also stressed he did nothing for personal benefit or to benefit the few, calling the suggestion a distortion by other candidates wanting his Senate seat.
